How I Keep Income In My Life
(1) Look around you to see what is needed - a skill or product. It may mean doing some "freelancing" or working for a "temporary agency" or "volunteering"...
(2) Evaluate your skills to see if you can fill the need or obtain the necessary skills or product. I have been very fortunate to have had folks that allowed me to "learn" while working for them. Not everyone can afford to pay to acquire additional training.
(3) Approach the organization or person you want to work for. I try to do the email introduction first to get a feel for the environment. Once I get a "positive" or "negative" response - then I move on to a more aggressive interaction. And by this I mean, I know there is a potential income source from this contact and I need to call them or stop by and visit. Always do what your insides tell you to do and things have a way of falling in place.
(4) Offer to work for "free" so that they can "evaluate" your skills or product. Now I know we really cannot afford to give away our time for free, but by offering to do this shows the potential income source that you are serious about making sure your quality of work measures up to their standards. It is a "win-win" arrangement...
(5) Keep looking - always have a plan just in case you get "laid off" again. ALWAYS give your employer the BEST that you have to offer while doing this. And by this I mean, don't job hunt on their time or make it obvious that you are looking.

I am hoping that my story will keep some other “laid off” person ENCOURAGED. Although it took 2 years to find another job after being “laid off” – I never stopped looking.
Please share the “link” below with anyone who may be going through what I went through for two years. Sometimes WESH Channel 2 has an “advertisement” on before the story – so please be patient for a few moments!
